Welcome!
Here at SMS | WHF we are dedicated to the health and well-being of the horse. Our primary goal is to provide an environment which is safe, healthy and interactive for the mind and body of our equine partners. We offer full, partial and pasture board to a very select group of dedicated horse owners. Because we are a private facility, the experience horses and owners receive is a personal one; each horse receiving care tailored specifically to their needs and each owner's concerns being met with the utmost attention. We welcome all breeds and sexes of horses (including stallions), along with all disciplines of riding.
We also offer many training opportunities to individuals who own their own horses from beginners to advance in the disciplines of Dressage, Show-Jumping and Eventing. We attend several clinics every year with regionally and nationally recognized clinicians and also attend lessons and host clinics with well-know horse professionals in our area.
We have recently embarked on a new venture developing and breeding Silver Dapple Sport Horses. Basically, our goal is to breed quality warmbloods with proven sport horse bloodlines which also possess the unique silver gene. So, what is silver? According to UC DAVIS, "The horse Silver dilution gene dilutes black pigment but has no effect on red pigment. The mane and tail are lightened to flaxen or silver gray, and may darken on some horses as they age. A solid black horse with this gene will be chocolate colored with a lightened mane and tail. A bay horse will have the black pigment on the lower legs, mane and tail lightened. Sometimes bay horses with Silver dilution can be mistaken for chestnuts with a flaxen mane and tail. Silver dilution is inherited as a dominant trait. It is known to occur in Rocky Mountain horses and related breeds, Shetland ponies, Icelandic and Morgan horses."
We are currently in the process of researching bloodlines and acquiring broodmares and anticipate having our breeding program in full force by January 2011. Please check our Sales page to browse upcoming breedings and available stock.
